Description

Here is a 5.1 system consisting of 5 Boston Acoustics
Speakers, (3) HS225ʼs & (2) HS40ʼs. There is also a Cambridge Soundworks Subwoofer designed by
Henry Kloss.
I personally was not familiar with Bostons and after hooking up a pr of 225ʼs for evaluation. I pressed the ʻSpeaker Aʼ button on my receiver and almost flipped the couch when the Bostons came roaring to life. It seems I left the volume control up a bit, but considerably below ʻ1ʼ, but it didnʼt matter; they were above conversational volume! Annoyed@first, it just seemed to sound all compressed; everything hitting me {contact info removed} then it dawned on me, I was just enveloped in a deep soundstage with precise instrumental variance and placement. I then reached to release the receiverʼs loudness button -but it was off! and the tone controls were defeated!
You get three of these very full range and most efficient speakers, as Fronts and Center. The (2) HS40ʼs are the perfect full-range satellites.
The Subwooferʼs sound is tuned for deep bass. Originally a passive, I added a stereo board amp to drive both of its woofers -independently. This sub was designed by Kloss, who designed the Advent Loudspeaker and then went on to start KLH, et al...You will feel it without it blasting.
To sum it up, this system looks modest -even minimalist but it sounds anything but!
